A Tango between two cultures

While local people and rats learn to live together in culturally changing 1920s Buenos Aires, the governor prefers the French scene, so he brings pigeons to remove the rats. But it comes at a price.

This 8 minute short film puts globalization under the microscope and shines a spotlight on the trend in developing countries of neglecting their traditions while looking up to developed countries.

While still appreciating the enrichment of cultural diversity, and touching on themes like eco-colonialism, hegemonic media, and community, it invites the audience to think of what they may have left behind, and what they can still embrace.

“The Latino Film Institute (LFI) today announced the second cohort of the LFI Spark Animation Fellowship through LatinX in Animation (LXiA), one of its five signature programs. Sponsored by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, this initiative provides emerging Latinx animation filmmakers with financial support, mentorship, and other invaluable resources to support them in the completion of an animated short film.

Each LFI Spark Animation fellow will receive a grant of $25,000, as well as mentorship from industry professionals who will present a series of panels tailored to address each stage of their film’s production.”
